Mumbles 34 Pelenna 21

Well done to all 21 boys for playing your part in winning The Junior Osprey Shield for the 2nd year in a row . We got off to a great start and were 20 points up with 2 Andrew Claypole tries and 2 conversions and 2 penalties by Will Thomas . Pelenna came back and their forwards brought them back into the game with 2 tries . At the beginning of the second half Pelenna pulled in front 21-20 . Game on and we had to dig deep . Andrew Claypole crossed for his 3rd try which was again converted by Will Thomas , and Ben Leek crossed in the corner and again Will converted to make it 34-21. It was great to see that all the players got on to the pitch . Well done to you all . As soon as I get some photos I will put them onto the site .
This was our last ever game together as a team and on behalf of the coaches and myself I thank you all for the time and commitment you have all put in over all the years together.
We will be organising a presentation evening after the exams are finished and I will notify everyone when we set the date.

Bus to Junior Osprey Shield Final 10/05/09

Can all boys be down the Rugby Club BY 10.am on Sunday as the bus will be leaving for the Junior Ospreys Shield final at Aberavon RFC at 10.15am . We want ALL the boys to travel together on the bus .
Please can all boys bring their navy shorts and Kukri socks to wear .

Last ever Training session Tuesday 05/05/09

Well it has finally come around , Your very last training session in the Juniors. It will be down the Park on Tuesday 05/05/09 at 5pm . Please ALL make an effort to be there as the Final is next Sunday .

Ospreys Shield Final

Have just agreed a date for our Osprey Shield Final against Pelenna , It will be played on Sunday May 10th 2009 kick-off 12.0.clock at Aberavon R.F.C ( the Wizards )

Ladies night out Saturday 2nd May at The Hancock

While the Boys are away on tour , the ladies are organising an evening out on Saturday May 2nd at The William Hancock . Mums / Grandmums / Sisters / Aunts / nieces are all welcome . Meeting at 7pm . Everyone must wear Mumbles Rugby colours ( dark blue/ light blue )

Mumbles U16s 28 Burry Port 22

What a fabulous finish to all the boys playing together as a team down the Park . Both sides produced one of the best games of running rugby ever seen down the Park this year . Full marks to Burry Port for contributing to a fast and open game , and a very big thanks to Andrew Thomas for again taking the time to ref for us and letting the game flow . It was great to see all 22 boys there and everyone get on to the field .

Mumbles U16s v Burry Port U16s Sunday 26th Home

We will be training this Friday 24th at 4.30pm down the Park .We will be playing our final game ( before our tour and Ospreys shield final ) against Burry Port home this Sunday 26th down the Park kick off 11:00am , please be there for 10.20 am for a warm up

Mumbles 31 Pontardulais 17 Ospreys Shield semi-final

We knew we were in for a hard time with Pontardulais after last year"s disastrous meeting . We did not make the best start with players turning up just before the kick-off , we cannot let this happen again . We scored 2 good tries but then let Pontardulais back in to the game against the run of play . There were a lot of things going on off the ball , and luckily we had a very strict ref . We made hard work of putting the game beyond Pont and most of their scores came off our mistakes , penalties , and dropped balls . It was still close thro the second half until we made the mistake of falling for Ponts tactics and got a player sent of for a dangerous tackle . All hell broke loose and luckily for the rest of the boys they kept their temper and did not retaliate. they ended up having 2 sent off and we managed to pull away from them . I apologised to the ref and the Pont coach Darrell for the bad tackle and told him the club would deal with it and take action .
We are waiting to find out when and where the final will be , it is against Pelenna and should be played on Sunday May 3rd , but we are on tour so waiting for an alternative date and venue.

Mumbles v Pontardulais Sunday April 12th Ospreys Shield Semi-final

We will be playing Pontardulais AWAY at Pontardulais Comp School next Sunday 12/04/09 Kick off 11.00am in the Semi final of the Ospreys Shield . We will be having a training session this week ( most probably during the day ) as all the boys are off school . I will let you all know what day and at what time ASAP .

U16s tour to Newquay

The balance of the tour money is now overdue . Please could everyone coming on tour please send me cash or a cheque for £95 per person ( for all who have paid their deposits ) and £120 for everyone else made payable to :
(Sports and Corporate Group Travel ) this week please .
There is no training this Wed 25th March as a lot of the boys are playing in School semi-finals , and if they get thro then the finals are down St Helens next Monday night . So as soon as I know who are thro , then I will decide if there will be a game this Sunday .

Mumbles 0 Pontardawe 42

Our final Osprey Cup group game and there is not much to say , as all the boys know that they did not turn up on the day . The result means that we are out of the Cup and Plate and in the semi-final of the Shield ( which we won last year ) . I don"t think that there wil be training this week , and will keep you all up to date on next weeks game ( should be home to Pontardulais )

Mumbles V Pontardawe Away 15th March Osprey Cup

We will be playing Pontardawe AWAY this Sunday March 15th , kick off 11.00 am in our final Junior Osprey group Cup game .
The Coaches have asked for ALL the team to turn up on Saturday morning by 10.00 am down the Park for a short training session .

We have managed to arrange an alternative fixture , We will be playing Taibach AWAY . So please can you all be there by 10.15 for a 11.0.clock kick off .

Mumbles 17 Bonymaen 10

Great win today boys , we went out with the right attitude and got a great win . It was great to speak to the Bonymaen coaches after the game and for them to say the best team won on the day .
WE WILL be going on tour to Newquay in May , no matter what some people say . I hope you have all had a tour itinerary , I will be booking for 30 people and when we get the final numbers I can alter it.
WE WANT ALL the boys to come on tour , so please contact me if you have any problem why you can"t go .
Hoping to play Pontardawe next week in the Osprey Cup , so I will keep in touch with you all .

U16s tour to Newquay

The boys have asked about a tour of Newquay for the weekend of May 1st until May 3rd . I have received a few ideas ( with the help of Jack ) and would like to present them to everyone at The Rugby Club after Sunday"s game against Bonymaen . We need to see how many are interested , as I have to get back to the Tour Operator on Monday .

Amanford have pulled out of Sundays game , so I have arranged to play Bonymaen Home down the Park kick off 11.00am .

Ospreys Cup

I have just had confirmation that Cwmtwrch have been kicked out of the Osprey Cup .
We had an inkling this was going to happen , but we decided not to tell the boys and fair play to the complete team they took them on thinking it was a cup game and gave one of the best performances of the season.
What it means is that there are only 3 teams left in our group and as it stands at the moment we have won 1 , Briton Ferry have won 1 and Pontardawe have not won 1 . If we beat Pontardawe then we come 1st in the group as Briton Ferry have finished all their games , if we lose against Pontardawe then we will all be on 1 win ( 3 points ) and it will all be decided by rules as below , and if you can work it out ???????? ???????
If pool positions are equal after all games played. The positions will be decided by the result of the game between the clubs involved. Away team will be regarded as winner - points will not be deducted at this stage, only the positions in pool will change, and adjusted accordingly .
We are definately thro to one of the semi-finals , just up to us which one .

Cwmtwrch 7 Mumbles 41 Osprey Cup

What a fantastic team performance today . We finally all arrived at Cwmwrch just before the kick off , but even though we new we were taking on a HUGE pack we took them on from the start . Our make shift pack stood their ground and did not take a step backwards , and pretty soon we were 19-0 up . They did not know what hit them and after 15 mins we new their big pack were struggling to keep up with us. Darrel took one against the head and then managed to finish off a great move to score a try . Even when we were down to 14 their pack still could not get the better of our 7 man pack and again we broke away to score 2 more tries . Half time 0 - 31 . Second half and with us playing up the slope their pack managed to stumble over for a try
That was the only chance they got and we pulled away to score 2 more tries . Final score 7-41 .

Mumbles v Cwmtwrch Away 25/01/09 Ospreys Cup

We are playing Cwmtwrch Away this Sunday 25/01/09 k.o. 11.00am . Please can you be there by 10;15 so we can warm up.
Please can you all keep in touch with me on Sunday morning as I will be ringing their Coach to make sure that their pitch is playable , IF it is not we will try and force them to come and play us either at the park or Bishopston School .

Mumbles v Tondu cancelled

As you are all aware the Park was under water on Sunday , so we had to call the game off .
We need to have a good turn out out on Wednesday evening for training as we are hoping to play our 2nd Osprey Cup game next Sunday 25th AWAY to Cwmtwrch .

We will be playing Tondu home on Sunday 18/01/09 kick off 11.00am .
I will be going down the Park at 09.00 am to see the Parky and will send you all a text to let you know if game is on or not. If game is on please can you all be there by 10:15 am for a warm up.

Mumbles 19 Briton Ferry 17

Well done to everyone for the tremendous performance you all put in yesterday . To give away a try in the first few minutes is a bit of a downer , but we did not let it get to us and came back with a very clever try . They scored again but we managed to stay in the game with another try on half time . I think Richie"s team talk at half time surprised a few players and you all reacted well . They scored another try and yet again we kept up with them and Ollie Redfern crossed for his third try . The last 2 minutes seemed like 2 hours , but our second half defence was superb . Their players complained about the ref after the game , and he told them that their indiscipline cost them the game . Well done to you all for keeping your discipline it wasn"t easy .

Osprey Cup Game

Hi , It looks pretty good for this Sunday"s Cup game as the weather is warming up a bit. Please can everyone make sure that they bring warm clothing with then for our warm-up session prior to the game .
We will inspect the pitch with the ref at 09:15 and then make a decision , so unless you hear from me we will meet at the Park at 10:15 sharp.

Ospreys Cup Game Sunday 11th January

Thanks for the really good turn out at training tonite ( Wednesday )
We are hoping to play our 1st Osprey Cup game on Sunday home against Briton Ferry . Obviously it is all down to the weather , and we will inspect the pitch at 09:15 on Sunday . We have spoken to Briton Ferry and agreed that if need be we can delay the kick off to 12.00 if there is any chance of the pitch being playable .
Please can all the players make sure that they all turn up with the correct shorts and the Kukri socks that everyone was given at the Final last year .

Training Wednesday 7th

We will be training on Wednesday at 5pm down the Park . This is our last chance to get together before next Sundays home Cup game against Briton Ferry so please make every effort to be there .

Tomorrow"s game against Bonymaen has been called off early as pitch is frozen .
The Coaches want all the players to meet 10.00 am down the park so as we can have a training session . Please bring boots , trainers and warm clothing . We have our 1st Cup game next Sunday and want to get everyone to training as due to a few injuries a few positions are still up for grabs.
