Merry Xmas

Merry Xmas and a happy new year to everyone . Hope you all have a nice one . We have a game on January 4th away to Bonymaen . No training over Xmas , will let you all know if we can organise a training session before the Bonymaen game ( it could be during the day )

Burry Port home this Sunday 14th December

We will be playing Burry Port home this Sunday 14th kick off 11:oo , It has been hard trying to get a team to play us so please be down the park by 10:15 for a warm up. Keep in touch as the weather forecast isn"t too good for Sunday .

Sunday"s game against South Gower

We decided to call our game off against South Gower as they were expecting to bring only 12 or 13 players . We could only get 13 players , and the weather forecast for Sunday is not very good . A lot of the boys are going to watch the Swans v Cardiff Football game so we have called it off .

Mumbles 14 Burry Port 19

It was an early start for everyone , but when we arrived it was nice to see that the pitch was in good condition . Burry Port fielded their full team ( including their Scarlets ) But we were not allowed to play our Ospreys . Still it was a good chance for our squad to show it"s strength . We played against a very strong wind 1st half and deservedly took the lead with a good try from Ben Leek under the posts ( surprised to find out that it was Ben"s 1st try this season ) Tom Greenwood stepped up to get the conversion . We seemed comfortable but kicked out of defence straight to Luke Treharn , who went over out wide . We got back into the game and scored another good try by Tom Bennett and again Tom Greenwood converted from in front of the posts. We had another 2 attacks , 1 when Elmo went outside a few players only to be ankle tapped with a straight run in and then when Charlie stormed forward .
We thought that turning around 14-5 up and with the wind behind us that we were home and dry , but we seemed to play most of the 2nd half in our own half and run ball from some silly positions instead of kicking . Fair play to Burry Port they worked well as a team and came storming back to score 2 tries and conversions to win 19-14 . We need to stop the bickering when we start to go behind as even the parents were coming up to me after the game and mentioning it . We go onto the field as a team and come off as a team

PONTARDULAIS AWAY on Sunday 16/11/08

We are AWAY to Pontardulais this Sunday 16/11/08 .We are playing at Pontardulais Comp School Kick Off 11.00 . They have confirmed that they have organised a neutral ref , he is from Bishopston and is head of P.E. at Gorseinon College .
I will not be there on Sunday ( away on a reconnaissance ), so you will have to check with Richie or Dave on Sunday morning to make sure the game is on .
At the moment there is no training this week , as the park is very wet and there is a problem with the lights .

MUMBLES 43 FELINFOEL 5

Everyone was surprised that the game was on , but the pitch was surprisingly good ( nice to see the council airate the pitch ) Thanks to Felinfoel for coming down even though they only had 14 players . We played some nice rugby and scored some good tries ( even the 2 scored by the poacher , Darrell ) The game was played in good spirit and a big thanks to Mr . Andrew Thomas for stepping in at the last moment to ref for us . He certainly kept the game going in some awkward windy conditions .

ABERAVON QUINS 23 MUMBLES 13

Well what can you say , apart from the ref it was a hard fought game. I have told Aberavon that next time we play them there is no way that we will let todays ref take charge .
Apart from the 2nd half penalty count of 32 -1 against us , I don"t think that he did the Aberavon team any favours .
Well done today boys , you did not let your heads go down and fought to the end. A lot of character came through and we all would have learnt form today"s game .
Keep up the hard work , we are getting stonger as a team .
Do not know when training will be this week , so I will keep you up to date.

Aberavon Quins AWAY 02/11/08

Have just managed to arrange a game against Aberavon Quins AWAY. k.o.11.00
They were supposed to play Nantyfyllon in the Ospreys Cup , but they called it off .
Please can all players be at Aberavon by 10:20 .

NO GAME Sunday 02/11/08

Yet again no game Sunday as Waunarlwydd are playing their Osprey Cup game .
Have tried teams that are not involved ( Taibach , Gowerton , Tondu , , Pontardulais ) but they either have a fixture or cannot raise a team to play us !!!!!!
Have even tried outside the Osprey Region , Tycroes , Llanharan , Bedwas , Ystrad Rhondda , , but some teams would rather have the day off ?????.
A big thanks to all that turned up for training last night , you certainly did well . Sorry about the showers , We have informed Robin Bonham and he will get the water situation sorted out for us . It would be a good idea that everyone brings a change of clothing with them in future , as we are now getting into Autumn and Winter and the Park is going to be very wet.

Sunday"s game 26/10/08

Surprise , Surprise , Morriston have cancelled this Sunday"s game . I had heard that they were going to call it off , so I rang them and they say that they have a few injuries and did not play last week either . I have re-arranged the away game for 21/12/08 ( they will get some mince pies ready for us ) I am trying to get an alternative fixture but if not then we will have a training session down the Park .
It seems word is getting round that we are doing well and some teams do not fancy playing us
So keep checking out for e-mails about Sunday .

Mumbles 36 Aberavon Quins 14

Well done everyone , good all round performance . Pity that they only turned up with 14 but they still thought that they were going to beat us .
Shows how we have come on as last year they gave us a tuning in the Osprey cup .
Training wil be on Wednesday down the Park 5pm.

Mumbles 26 Gowerton 0

We won but not a very good performance , from the start we seemed to over complicate moves . Our scrum struggled and the game was much closer than the score suggests . If some of Gowerton"s passing had gone to hand it would have been a lot closer .
Training will be on Wednesday this week at 5pm down the Park .

Gowerton at home this Sunday 12/10/08

We are home to Gowerton this Sunday down the Park kick off 11:00am , please can all players be there by 10:15 am for a warm up .
Please keep in touch as if the Park is un-playable we might transfer the game to Gowerton RFC , which would mean a 10:00am kick off ( as they have a game booked for 11:00 am) and we want to get back to the Club before 13:00 as the Ospreys will be playing Leicester in the Heineken Cup and the game will be on the big screen down the club .
All are welcome to come and watch the game in the clubhouse .

Sunday October 5th

Sorry but there will be no game this Sunday.
Dunvant are playing in The Ospreys Cup and so are all of the other Osprey region teams ( except us ) to To have played a game we would have had to travel to Bedwas or the Merthyr Valley and seeing as a few of the boys are playing School games tomorrow and 8 of our boys are playing for the Swansea District on Friday night .
The coaches have decided we will have a training session on Sunday morning at 10:00 am sharp down the Park ( it will only last about 1 hour )

Sorry no game today , I spoke to Bonymaen yesterday ( Saturday ) and they knew that they had a lot of players out but they still thought that they could get a team .
This changed overnight and they rung me this morning at 09:00 to tell me that 3 players had pulled out , so they could not fulfill the fixture .
There is training this week on Wednesday at 5pm down the park .

Well played boys , we made a lot of changes to start as a lot of boys were going to the Boys Club Of Wales trials after ( thanks to you all for agreeing to play at least half a game ) Ashley Long seems to have found a new lease of life as No8 , scoring 2 tries ( he is now top try scorer with 3 tries )seeing as before this season he has never scored a try ?????? well done Ash .
We made 6 changes second half and even played uncontested scrums , but we were too strong for them .
Richie told all the boys before the game that they would all get a chance to play in their preferred positions , between now and xmas and that was true on Sunday , so it gives the coaches a hard job of picking the starting team for the cup games ( after xmas )

Game cancelled 14/09/08

Vardre are unable to field a team for Sunday"s game , and seeing as some of our players are going to the Boys Club Of Wales trial Sunday afternoon , we took the decision not to arange an alternative fixture .
It seems as if there are going to be a few teams who are going to struggle to field sides this year , so we will try to arrange alternative fixtures . I wil keep you all up to date .

Mumbles 26 - Felinfoel 17

Good start to the season boys , Felinfoel are the County Champions so it was a good all round performance . A big welcome to newcomers Gareth Kirk and Scott Gibson .
Even though we were 10-0 down our heads did not drop and the forwards certainly stood up to the challenge . Well done to Charlie Watkins who more than coped with their prop Samson , and a good performance by Ashley Long in his 1st game at No8 finished off with a good try .

Junior Osprey Cup Draw

Just to let you all know that we have been drawn in group 4 with , Briton Ferry , Cwmtwrch , Loughor , and Pontardawe .

Start of Season

Training will be at 5pm this week down the Park , please all try and make it as our first game is next Sunday 7th September away against South Gower ( k.0. tbc ) . I will be going to the Junior Ospreys Cup draw on Monday evening and as soon as I get the draw I will add it to our fixture list and send it out to everyone .

Just to remind you of Monday 1st September 6.30-8.30 at the club of the boots and kit swap.
Parents and boys can just turn up with boots and put them on the tables. A voucher will be given for each set of boots handed over.Any boots swapped for no voucher will be charged at £3-£5.
Please bring old shorts and socks as well.

Mumbles U16s V Kings School

We have a friendly arranged against Kings School ( touring team ) for SATURDAY August 30th Kick off at 12.00 at Underhill Park . They are down in Mumbles for a week and will be using the Park for training sessions . I have been told that some of their players are older than 16 , but we have agreed to play them and test our players .

PRESENTATION EVENING 2007

Our Presentation Evening will take place on Friday July 11th at the Rugby Club . Kick off at 19.00
Awards for player of the year , most improved player , and clubman of the year will be selected .
We will be asking all the players to bring their Osprey shield medals to training when we start so that we can get them engraved for you .

Ospreys Shield Winners 2008

Hi welcome to our new site .


We have just finished a very good season by Winning The Ospreys U15s Shield , beating Waunarlwydd 20-15 . It was a great all round performance with the scores very close up to the half time , Half way through the second half we were leading 20-8 and seemed to be controlling the game but Waunarlwydd forwards came back and scored to make the score 20-15. With 10mins left we were down to 14 men after getting a forward sin-binned but managed to dig deep and hang on to the final whistle.
Scorers were :
1 try for "Elmo" Langstone
1 try for Andrew Claypole
2 conversions and 2 penalties for Will Thomas

It was a well deserved win brought on by all the hard work that the players and Coaches have put in this season .
